About City of Heroes® and City of Villains®

In 2004 City of Heroes® was launched, bringing the world of comic books alive in the first massively multiplayer game of its kind, and winning Computer Gaming World’s MMORPG Game of the Year award. In 2005 City of Villains® arrived representing the dark side of the struggle between good and evil, and earning Game of the Year from MMORPG.com.

Today the battle continues. Players have created millions of unique heroes and villains and set off to fight crime in Paragon City™ or become infamous villains in the Rogue Isles™. This free trial allows players access to both award-winning games. The only question is whether to protect Paragon City as a crime fighting hero or help the evil Lord Recluse™ bring it to its knees!

How Does This Free Trial Work?

This free trial entails no obligations. It does not require your credit card information. Simply follow these instructions and you will be playing City of Heroes® and City of Villains® in no time!

Note: You will need to use the 20-digit serial code that was provided to you.

At the end of the 14 days, you may choose to purchase the City of Heroes® or City of Villains® game (or even BOTH!), either from our PlayNC® web site or from any leading retailer. That purchase will have another month of service included***, and subsequent months can be paid for using game time cards (purchased at retail) or a valid credit card. You will be able to continue using your character(s) from the initial trial.

The 14-day trial serial code can be used to create a new account, or to apply to an existing City of Heroes® or City of Villains® account. It cannot be applied to any existing game account that has previously used a trial. Note: The 14-day trial serial code can only be used once and is non-transferable.
